Its not all about JUST RUNNING!!!
Re a leboga!!, Re a leboga!! This was joyous elation expressed by David Hlogwane, supervisor at Roohuiskraal Shell and his colleagues on the 25 December 2020 after receiving a donation of more than R 4000 on behalf of petrol attendants from Just Running Athletics Club (JRAC). JRAC coordinated a Special 25km run for Rooihuiskraal Petrol attendants as part of a charitable initiative spearheaded by JRAC Enrichment Team. When receiving the donation, David said they are extremely gratified and humbled by JRAC generosity and caring spirit. This gesture made us realise that this club is not only about just running but is a club with a heart and it is fully immersed in the lives of other people and making a difference.
Gale Ramorola, Head of Enrichment Programme at JRAC said Rooihuiskraal petrol attendants have without fail provided much needed car guard service while we do what we enjoy most, running. In handing over the donation, she said that this gesture heralds a new beginning for a long-lasting partnership. Gale’s view was echoed by Nandipha Makohliso, JRAC Assistant Head of Marketing. She said that the COVID-19 had and still have far reaching effect on our lives and we are somehow affected by this pandemic, socially and financially. She further thanked all JRAC members for their continued willingness to support worthy initiatives. As a club, it was only natural for us to put a smile on someone’s face amid this pandemic and Rooihuiskraal Petrol Attendants were a perfect fit for that.
The club also donated food hampers worth more than R 2000 to security personnel at Mall@Reds on 31 December 2020. Tsekere Maponya, JRAC Deputy Secretary, in handing over the hampers to centre management on behalf of the security, he said was delighted that members of the club rallied behind this initiative and thanked all security personnel for ensuring safety of runners and their vehicles during morning club runs.
