Just Running Athletics Club makes an impact at PWC Kosmos 3-in-1 2020
Once again, Just Running Athletics Club (JRAC), the Lime Brigade was well represented at the PWC Kosmos 3-in-1, which took place on Saturday, 07 March 2020. To the uninitiated, this is one of the key events on the annual road running calendar.
The race takes place in Secunda, Mpumalanga Province. It marks the beginning of the high mileage period, which spans the months of March and April. Some in the running community consider this a critical test of fitness, on the road to participating in the Comrades Marathon.
Runners who participate in the Kosmos 3-in-1 complete three (3) races in one day. These are the 42.2 km, 21.1 km and 10 km – a whopping 73.3 km. The different races are interspersed with some breathing time in between, to allow runners some much needed time to recover and refuel.
Our very own Mpho Tshesane participated in her fifth PWC Kosmos 3-in-1 race, thus achieving the coveted blue number. The JRAC family congratulates Mpho on her achievement. We hope that this will inspire many other members who have made this a part of their annual running pilgrimage, to keep supporting the race.
The Club would also like to congratulate those who took part for the first time in this epic event as well as those who achieved their Marathon Personal Bests. A massive shout out to Tshepo “Oroplane” Makgato for achieving an awesome 3h32 finish in the Marathon.
Our very own Oroplane completed the three races in a cumulative time of 6:28:53. Tshepo’s achievement prompted one of the members to propose that he changes from Oroplane to Gripen Military Speedster.
The standard and level of performance keeps improving in the Lime Brigade. We are proud of all the achievements and congratulate all members for their efforts. The hard work and commitment is clearly paying off.
Looking forward to more epic stories of the Brigade’s achievements in future races. Let’s all make 2020 the year if excellence!! by Tsekere TK Maponya
